When I first saw pictures of this snake in the summer of 2005, I knew this snake was an important retic morph. After months of negotiation, I was finally able to acquire the snake. In the fall of 2005, I flew to Miami to look at the snake as soon as it came into the country. I first confirmed that it was a male. I packed him up and shipped him back to Oklahoma. After getting him home, I was able to look at him more closely. This animal has so much going on. The color is a steel blue/gray and the pattern is completely replaced with black and gold speckles. the tongue is pale pink and the ayes are dark blue. The belly is completely pied white with pied white patches extending up the sides. He looks exactly like a low white pied ball python. The pattern of the Pied Ball Python is very abnormal just like in this retic. I believe that this morph will exhibit the same variation of white as we see in the ball pythons. Only some breeding will tell, but I am very excited about this morph and happy to have it in my collection. This animal also has an unusually docile disposition for a wild caught animal. He never offers to bite and has adjusted to captivity very well. |
