Hi, I recently recieved a nice small ccb ball python female. She has only been feed live mice but I would like too switch her over to f/t mice/rats. I have tried to feed her once and she striked and constricted her prey but did not swallow it. Is it normally hard to get them to eat F/t? :)
Move slowly from pre-killed to f/t.
There are a LOT of methods out there, but might as well start with the easy ones first!
I also heard, though i dont remember where, that if you mist bp's before feeding it stimlates their feeding response.

have you tried leaving a f/t mouse in the cage overnight? this might work/help.

Thanx you very much for answering! I have not tried to put a mouse with her overnight but I will try that. If that does not work i'll try to slowly convert her to f/t. :)

another one that I've heard is putting the snake in a paper bag with a f/t. You might try that over night too, if the bag is big enough.

Daniel,
I would try to put a smaller f/t in the cage for a few hours. If she does not go for it, put a live fuzzy in there also and wait till morning. This trick has worked several times for me and also worked on my bloods. I guess it has got to do with their feeding response; when they are in feeding mode and smell the other (f/t), they go for it to. You may have to do this for a few times.
P.S. Make sure the f/t is very warm to the touch.:D
