What cage do you think is better Boaphile or Animal Plastics

now that is a tough question. I think they both are superior products...if I had to choose...and quality was about the same...I'd go for the most affordable pricing & available cage/rack sizes. I'm a boa girl and have to stand by my friend & hopeful future boss Jeff Ronne's Boaphile Cages . It's a tough call and comes down to preference.
If anyone doesn't care for Boaphiles what do you think could be changed to make it a more appealing choice?

Ha anyone noticed any downfalls in the Boaphile cages? How are the 6' connecting cages if anyone knows, or can you take a look at it an give me an opinion (6422H)-- with a shelf aswell, for a BCI?
Cheers,

As far as racks go boaphile has awesome racks. But be prepared for a wait. And from what i understand AP makes great racks too. i might eventually buy one from them.
My only complaint on the boaphiles is that there should be enclosures for large pythons .. Even if you connect 2-3' or 4' units, the height and depth arn't sufficient for larger animals. I like the racks I have though.

I love my Boaphile cages, Boaphile cages IMO are of great quality and top of the line craftsmanship! I can't think of anything to improve on the cages from my stand point, which is mainly Boas.
The only recommendation I would give, is in better response to emails and shorter/consistent delivery timeliness. Emails can go weeks/months/infinitely without a response from Jeff/Boaphile and deliveries can take anywhere between 3-10 weeks. To Jeff's defense, the phone is the best and sometimes the only way to get a hold of Jeff and 99% of the time you will get a hold of him via a phone call. Some people simply prefer emails and to have communications in writing.
Other than that, the cages themselves are top of the line! I own 15 of them and plan on adding another 10 this X-mas, I'll just order them in October...:trink39[1
I don't think you can go wrong with either AP or Boaphile! It simply comes down to preference.

Amen to the waiting factor!!!
You really need to follow up each step of the way with Boaphile. As long as you are okay with that... I love Jeff's product but APs is just as good & I've never had any issues getting the best customer support from AP.

I own both a 421D and AP T-10. I will never buy anything but AP again. They are heavier duty. I prefer the sliding doors. They hold heat better. I prefer the taller design ( I know I can buy taller boaphiles) my boaphile took several weeks to receive. I had 6 AP's on my porch within 3 weeks. AP emailed me throughout the process to keep me informed, and answered all my emails the same day.
The reason i went with AP to start with is I emailed Jeff 3 times with questions and never heard back, and still haven't (over 6 month ago)
I realized I could try calling, but I prefer everything to be written through email.
I think Jeff's cages are nice, but AP's are nicer. You cannot beat a cage for $200 shipped. AP T-10s with sliding glass are on sale for $215 plus $40 shipping.
Another nice cage manufacturer is Ed Lilley from Constrictors Northwest.:049[1]:

[ROFLMAO] $200 shipped and your selling for $255.00 shipped? How does that work?[ROFLMAO]
I've heard way more complaints about Boaphiles products and CS than many other distributors.
I use Ap racks and have had cages too. Mark,Ryan and the bunch there have always been very cool and taken care of me when I needed anything. And they stand by their products. I had an issue months after purchase and they helped me out free of charge.
There may be a wait, but you can also look at it from the deman dof their products as well.......well, at least I can with AP,lol.

Yeah but see I think that most of you guys all live in the states, while I'm all up here lonely in Ontario, Canada. The AP shipping is ridiculous to my house. I just e-mailed AP to find out how much the shipping of a T2o would be over here, and it's $293.51!!! That's nearly the price of the enclosure over again. I think that the Boaphile cages are far less to ship here..

Ouch! Yes that makes Boaphile a better deal for you. The listed wait time for Jeff's stuff last I checked was 5 weeks... or so (so just check throughout the process). They are a good product.
Best Wishes- Deb
I have talked with AP and the customer service is very good, good response times, etc. Jeff doesn't answer emails, he told me the best way to reach him is by the phone which nowadays can unfortunately be quite an inconvenience. The sliding door design is also far better than the swing-down option from boaphile, especially when working with retics. I went with the boaphile racks because I liked the new self-extinguishing material Jeff was using for them; I believe AP is offering the same thing now hopefully. I will most likely be trying AP's cages soon.

just for the fact of how you are treated with AP makes them the only choice.
Boaphile is not able to handle anything bigger then a boa, and since most ppl on this forum have bigger then boa snakes AP is going to have the advantage.
with that being said AP cages are still better for smaller snakes than Boaphile is anyway so there really is no competition.
my 2 cents...

i have a 421D and i don't like when a snakes urates on the floor if they miss the paper or push under it, it is hard to remove, even with scrubbing and soaking. I have alot of white spots i can't seem to remove from my cage and thats agravating, so im looking elsewhere for my next one. Any recommendations on how to remove the urates? this is when snakes are busy with eachother and you can't desturb them and they smash it in over the heat pad area and its there for days.

I called AP about their cages today, and the woman I talked to was so nice and helpful I think that just about sold me right there. Then she told me they could make what I was looking for...... SOLD. I really like the fact that they're a half inch thick as well.

yep thats what happened with me also, their customer service is excellent, Mark is who i dealt with and he is a pleasure to do business with, and will only use them for any other cages i need.
my wife had called a month before our anniversery to order me a t-25 and told them she wanted it deliverd on the anniversay date, they said no problem and had it done!

Unfortunately, XPVC does stain if those urates are allowed to dry. You ca scrub till your arm falls off, it won't come off. The best and only thing you can do is get to them before they dry. In any case the stain won't cause any issues and more than likely is covered by the substrate.
HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) is on the other hand stain resistant, but is also much heavier than the XPVC. HDPE is what your heavy/hard plastic cutting boards are made of.
I know quite a few people that originally wanted to go with Boaphile, but after days/weeks/months of unanswered emails they went with AP, Vision or elsewhere. It's Jeff's business and if he prefers a phone call to emails...it's his company. At the same token, if a customer prefers an email to picking up a phone, it's their business and $$$ they also have every right to take elsewhere!

Well I think I can probably convince my Dad to take a road trip down to pick up an AP in his pick-up.. and since he's retiring next summer, he won't have an excuse not to! Oh the plan is genius!:D

I am ordering cages soon and I wasn't sure who I would go with until now, I'm pretty sure I will be going with AP cages and when the time comes get me a rack there too. Does anyone have any idea how much there T-10's weigh?
