Well i have been pondering this idea for awhile and i have been interested in getting a tarantula. The only arachnid i've had in the past were some emperor scorpions, wat would you guys suggest for a good tarantula that tends to be pretty docile to handling and easy to take care of (yes i know if u spook any of them their is a possibility it will bite).
thanks
Eric

mexican red knee commonly found in most petstore make sure though even though most are harmless but can still bite you do not have a history of anaphalaxis or reaction to bee stings

Brazilian blacks (Grammastola pulchra) are great - they gain the size & bulk of the redknee w/o the hairflicking tendancies. They're also very docile & laid-back. I got one recently & absolutely love her.

I'm just gonna clear this one because I re-posted it in easier-to-understand terms, haha.

Haha, sorry. I REALLY need to start making things easier for people. I'm used to another board I used to post on, people there are all "Rah, I'm cooler than you and I know everything" and stuff, though, haha.
Grammastola rosea- AKA Chilean rose, Chilean flame, rose hair, or rosies. They're generally really calm, but not all of them seem to be. All that I've had wouldn't hesitate to get into a threat posture, though they could easily be handled. I've known some people that said theirs are demonic little creatures, though. You walk by their tank, and they hiss at ya.
Grammastola pulchra- AKA Brazillian Black. Also generally calm, a lot like Chilean roses, but usually a bit more calm. But same with Chilean roses, some can be more like minions of Hell.
Brachypelma smithi- AKA Mexican redknee, Mexican flameknee. Antoher well-known "pet/beginner" species, but I've known most of them to be fairy aggressive.
Any Avicularia species- not recommended as a beginner species, because it can be hard to keep their heat and humidity at the right level. I know a lot of people that have had problems with them, but still some that didn't.
Eupalastrus campestratus- AKA pink zebra. A beautiful species, and my #1 for beginners. They're the most calm species I've ever worked with. I've never seen one in a 'threat' posture, I've never seen one take off running like I have with the others that I listed up there, and I've never heard of anybody having problems with them. I *have* seen people that could lay theirs upside-down in their hands, and I've let my 2 year old cousin handle the one that I used to have, she was totally calm and all. I'd definitely recommend these as a first tarantula.

lol, it's all good, thanks, too... I just need a reminder every once in a while, to remember to speak *human* languages, hahaha... 'cause everybody knows, us serious arachnid enthusiasts are anything but human.
