If the tarantula is younger, it may just not have it's adult colours yet.
It it's at the size where ti seems like it *should* have it's adult colours, the colours you described sound more like an A. avicularia (http://www.animal-world.com/encyclo/reptiles/spiders/images/ptaran18_s.jpg) (http://www.petbugs.com/caresheets/gallery/A-avicularia.jpg) But I say that because of the 'orange hairs' description. Here's a picture of an A. metallica, for comparison- (http://www.swiftinverts.com/species/Ametalm1.jpg)
But there are several Avicularia species and all have the basic common name "pink toe", so it's kinda hard to tell. But for some sorts of comparisons, ehre are a couple web sites that have several species of pink toes, complete with pictures-
http://www.bighairyspiders.com/ (species are listed in the left hand column)
http://www.swiftinverts.com/species/swiftsmiscpage.htm (just scroll down until you find the "Avicularia" species)

definately old enough to be showing adult colors, and definately looks more like a. avicularia. doesnt really matter what it is, just want to make sure its needs are met. 24hrs, and its webbed the whole corner of a 5 1/2 gallon tank. also got a 1/4 in spiderling from the same place, they claim its a chaco giant gold, but who knows now, guess we'll wait and see. thanks for the help death, you cleared things up.

I used to have an avicularia metalica, if that helps. Maybe they were referring to that species.
