Today, one of my male rat died(The one I pulled out 1.5 weeks ago). I wonder why??? Die because of loneliness????.

Now I left with 1 male and 8 female adults and lot of babies.

As for mice, I probably have 30+-. Hunter and Lucy really eat well and their population more or less under control.

good to hear about the mice... as far as the rat... they don't live too terribly long... i think two or three years is ancient by rat standards.

Yes a few years is the typical life span for rats, and for breeding females, its a lot shorter. Breeding really takes it out of animals.

So many females to one male, no wonder. Sex kills!?! [ROFLMAO]

Sometimes you have to be jealous of the rat........except for the whole getting eaten by a snake later on........

I am thinking of training a male rat so I can use him both to perofrm some tricks as well as for breeding. (The other unlucky males will be eaten by snake first :kll: ) Anyone here trained any rat before?

i have heard of people training them to do all sorts of stuff... i haven't tried it myself, but i would imagine it would involve something like training a dog

Yeah, except at my place, if the rat does something wrong.........snake food. So far, no one has done a trick right........

Right now, I am trying to train my rat pups to become snake food , did not work out. :(

Will try again another session.

are rat pups more nutritious than adult mice? Or are they even the same size?

I heard so, but don't know whether it is true. As for the size, they can be of same size, but after a week, rat pups will be much bigger than adult mice.

My sad story is my snakes are yet to comsume any rat pups. :(
