boa wont eat

Hey everyone.. my boa wont eat.. I have had the hopper mouse in his cage all night and most of the day and he wont eat it. The boa at just fine at the petshop before I bought him.. every week.. he's going on his 8th day w/o food.. what could be the problem?

What kind of boa is it? 8 days is not a long time for a snake to go off feeding. If you just got it recently, then maybe it is more focused on its new habitat and surroundings.

Try using a rat crawler (fuzzy), and put both the rat and the boa in a plastic container (with air holes) over night in the dark, and see if that works.

its a columbian argentine boa cross from what i'm told by the guys here.. Yes, it has been only 8 days.. if he wont eat by tomorrow i'll probally do that.. I guess I was just excited to watch him eat infront of me..maybe later on.

Also.. he ate the day before i bought him.. and when i put him in the cage that day he threw up the mouse from the day before..

Do you know why he would have done that? Is his enclosure situated around a lot of people? The only reason i could think of that he would do that would be from stress.

May be too cold or way too hot. Sometimes that will cause them to regurge.

Also, wasn't s/he going into shed when we saw the pix?

Hey everyone.. bmx, I thought he was going into shed because his eyes were clowdy.. but the day after I posted the picture I got the temperature right in there.. basking spot 90 degrees.. and his eyes are clear as can be.. I have searched many times and cant find any skin at all! His cage is in my livingroom but there is only me or maybe one other person around.. usually dark too. the only time he comes out from under the bedding is when I take him out.. when I put him back in he is back under even if the mouse is in the cage. It was weird he degured about 5 min from when I put him in his new cage. The only light I question havign is my night light. I have a 100 watt broad spectrum daylight bulb and his night light is a 60 watt RED light. would the brighter red color be causing him stress? Even though its a night light the red still lets off a decent glow.. what do you think any suggestions??

also, when boas shed do their behaviors change?

yes most boas tend to change their habits when they shed
if he hasn't shed jet i wouldn't worry sometimes it takes longer than you expect, just don't offer food untill he does as they usualy wont eat untill they have shed.

were you handling the boa a lot after you got it home?
that would cause a regurge, it's best not to handle them for a few days after feeding.
